This is a very special issue of PRINTlovers. We made it 100 but 100 pages was not enough for us to say everything there was to say. We wanted to tell some aspects-the more human ones, rich in history, inventiveness, commitment, entrepreneurial knowledge-of the Italian Graphic Industry. We took stock of the state of the art of the main application sectors thanks to the valuable information shared with us by the italian associations GIFASP, GIFCO, GIFLEX, GIPEA, FESPA and on the transition to sustainability with Ayming Italia. So many people have worked on this issue: among them, there are also those who have exceptionally returned to writing after a few years and those who have appeared in the pages of the magazine for the first time. And in all this great collective effort to create a memorable issue a fundamental part, without which nothing would have been possible, was played by the companies that believed in the power of telling about their experience and their best projects. They are:
ACM – SIT Group, Agfa, Arché Comunicazione, Arting 159 – Cubo A.P.E., Athena, Ciemme, D’Auria Printing, Due Emme Pack, Epson, Erredue, Esanastri, Eurolabel, Fedrigoni, Fustelgrafica, Grafica Atestina, Grafica Metelliana, Grafical, Grafiche AZ, Grafiche Mercurio, Grafiche Paciotti, Gruppo Masserdotti, Holmen Iggesund, HP, Indeco Serigrafia, Kapag, La Commerciale, Luxoro, Manifattura del Seveso, Masterpack, Mondi, myCordenons, Nava Press, Oropress, P&P Promotion, Panzani Carta, Perego Carta, Polyedra, Pozzoli, PressUP, Print Finishing Li.To.ver, PRT Group, Rotas, Rotolito, Rotomail Italia, Sales, Sappi, SEI Laser, Simeoni Arti Grafiche, Sprint24, Tecnostampa, The Navigator Company, Tipografia Valdostana, UPM Raflatac, Valtenna and Varigrafica.
To all of them goes our heartfelt thanks. To you the invitation to keep on your desk, coffee table, couch or wherever you like to read PRINTlovers, this special issue to consult its 120 pages over time and find the best of the world of printing materials, techniques and applications. Plus, let's face it, with its cover ennobled with 100 different designs, its poster and sticker set, it's just beautiful.
The cover
One hundred designers have been involved in designing one hundred issues. To celebrate PRINTlovers 100, we asked for the collaboration of agencies, designers, illustrators, calligraphers and artists who have appeared in our pages over time. Each has interpreted the number 100 in their own way, giving us a unique and collective cover.
Cover paper
Fedrigoni Freelife Cento 350 g/m2

The special version within the Digital Papers for HP Indigo® Collection is optimised for digital printing.
Printing and finishing
The covers are produced by Nava Press using digital printing techniques with variable data and hot stamping. The first printing pass is 4-colour digital with HP Indigo 15K: the front cover features 100 subjects, each produced with a print run of 70 to 7,000 copies. The HP Indigo 15K is a very high productivity press (3450 sheets per hour 4/0, 4600 sheets per hour EPM 3/0, 1725 sheets per hour 4/4, 4600 sheets per hour 1/1 monochrome) and high print quality, suitable for every need due to its versatility in sheetfed printing. The same hot stamping was then carried out for all the covers using three different foils and three different clichés.
Finishing
Hot Foil Oropress 422A57
422A57 is a holographic silver foil with a horizontal mini-pillar effect, used for printing the word Lovers, the number 100 and the graphics; it gives depth and movement thanks to its unique design and high luminosity.
Hot Foil Oropress 061C08 and Hot Foil Oropress 861N77.
061C08 is a metallic copper foil, and the 861N77 is a metallic gunmetal foil. Both colours are bright and elegant. Combining the three foils creates a frame into which the central graphic fits.
